Andrew Jackson co-founded Patron Defence, bringing deep operational and fifth-generation air combat expertise, with a focus on tactics development, mission integration and advanced training delivery.
Andrew’s operational background includes service as a Fighter Combat Instructor across the F‑35A, F/A‑18F and F/A‑18A, as well as senior leadership roles including Chief of Weapons and Tactics for No. 81 Wing. In this role, he was responsible for key elements of the F‑35A introduction into service, including tactics, techniques and procedures development, mission support, and contribution to capability validation and verification.
He has also served as Course Director of the Fighter Combat Instructor Course, leading the development and delivery of Air Force’s premier tactical training programme, and as Senior National Representative at Luke Air Force Base, where he represented Australian interests within the multinational F‑35 training enterprise and oversaw the integration and management of Australian personnel and capability.
Andrew’s experience includes the planning and execution of major domestic and international flying operations, working with multi-disciplinary teams across engineering, logistics and airfield operations to deliver safe and effective air combat capability outcomes.
He is a highly decorated and recognised aviator, qualified as a Mission Commander, Instrument Rating Examiner, Flying Supervisor and A‑Category Fighter Combat Instructor, with extensive experience in aviation safety, risk management and advanced operational leadership.
