Adam Loong
Adam Loong is the Co-Founder and Managing Director of Patron Defence, combining 27 years of Royal Australian Air Force fighter aviation and leadership experience with extensive commercial expertise across strategy, business growth and Defence capability development.
Adam Loong co-founded Patron Defence and serves as its Managing Director. He leads the company’s strategic direction, bringing together operational aviation expertise and commercial acumen to support Defence capability outcomes.
Adam’s commercial background includes co-founding the Skildare group, with interests spanning professional services and primary production, including an HR consultancy and vineyard business. He has also founded a not-for-profit registered charity, an accommodation and events business, and a professional software-as-a-service company, bringing practical experience in strategy, finance, growth and team development across complex commercial environments.
Adam previously enjoyed a distinguished 27-year career in the Royal Australian Air Force as a Fighter Combat Instructor and operational pilot on the F/A‑18A Hornet and F‑15E Strike Eagle. He held a number of senior training and leadership positions, including Director of the Air Force’s Advanced Warfare Instructor Course.
Adam was awarded the Conspicuous Service Medal for his leadership and contribution to advanced warfare training. He holds a Bachelor of Technology (Aeronautical Engineering) and is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
